Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth...

Is what the Bible, especially to me, stands for. It actually means "collection of little books." It is the sacred writings of the Christian religions. 9 out of every 10 Americans own the Bible and regard it as either the literal word of God or as inspired by God. Here are some interesting facts that you might not know or maybe never even pondered. Enjoy and make sure to keep checking this post for updates and new facts! Facts about the Holy Bible


  • First Promise: (Genesis 2:15-17) in which Adam & Eve are told not to eat from the tree of knowledge or they will surely die. Obviously they didn't listen and now we all suffer for our ancestors' sins

  • Last Promise: (Revelation 22:20) where He says "He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, 'Yes, I am coming soon!' Amen! Come Lord Jesus!"

  • Shortest Verse: (John 11:35) in which he wrote "Jesus wept."

  • Longest Verse: (Esther 8:9) in which people from all over convert to Judaism

  • Shortest Book: (Psalm 117) with only 2 verses

  • Longest Book: (Psalm 119) with a total of 176 verses

  • Longest Word: is in (Isaiah 8:3) - "Mahershalahashbaz"

  • First Spoken Words in the Bible: in (Genesis 1:3) God said "Let there be light!"

  • First Spoken Words of Mankind: in (Genesis 2:23) Adam said "At last!" because God just created Eve from Adam's very own rib

  • Man First "called on the Lord": in (Genesis 4:26) when Enoch was born

  • First Spoken Words of Jesus: were in (Luke 2:49) He says "Why is it that you were looking for me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father's house?"

  • Last Words: (Revelation 22:21) "May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's holy people. Amen."

  • The Old Testament took over 1,000 years to write

  • The New Testament was written within 50 - 75 years

Facts about Jesus Christ


  • Jesus wasn't an only child. He had at least 4 brothers mentioned by name & 2 sisters. The brothers include; James, Joses, Juda (Jude), & Simon as stated in (Mark 6:3) & (Matthew 13:55-56)

  • Jesus (Mary's Son) & John the Baptist (His mother Elizabeth, Mary's cousin) were second cousins. as indicated in (Luke 1)

  • Jesus, before choosing his disciples, stayed up all night praying (Luke 6:12-13)

  • The Father spoke to Jesus audibly 3 times while He was on Earth; at His baptism (Matthew 3:17) & (Luke 3:22), at the transfiguration (Matthew 17:5), (Mark 9:7), & (Luke 9:35), & just before He went to the cross in (John 12:28) & this time the crowd actually heard Him. Some thought it was thunder and some said that it was the voice of an angel.

 

Meanings / Translations


  • Jesus' Name translates to - "the Lord is salvation" & in (Hebrew) translates to the name "Joshua"

  • Christ in (Greek) is "khristos" meaning - "the anointed one" which is the noun of the verbal adjective "khriein" meaning - "to rub anoint"

  • Emmanuel translates to "God is with us"

  • Adam's name in (Hebrew) is - "a da ma" meaning - "the ground"

  • Eve's name means - "life" or "life-giver"

  • Angel in (Greek) is - "aggelos" meaning - "messenger"

  • Genesis means - "origin" & in (Hebrew) means - "the beginning"

  • Exodus translates to - "but of" or "going out"

  • Israel means - "strives with God"

  • Excruciating in (Latin) is "cruciare" meaning - "to crucify"
